The Play House

At the beginning of the summer, I had come home to find a hand drawn picture by Grace of her and Amelia and a small house by my nightstand. We had been talking about building a playhouse sometime. In my mind, it was somewhere in the vague , distant future. In Grace's mind I think it was a little more immediate. It seemed like it would be difficult to squeeze something like this in with all of the other home projects and vacations we had planned at the beginning of the summer. Somehow we worked it out and I was able to build not just a playhouse but another layer in the relationship with my oldest daughter as she was there to help every step of the way. You can view the whole slideshow here.

End of Summer

The neighbor with the steepest hill in his backyard puts together a slip n slide each year at the end of the summer for the kids. It gets kind of serious.

Ride

I spent last Saturday photographing Keith M. He enjoys a freewheeling single lifestyle. Dating, working out at the gym, riding his motorcycle, and playing raquetball are his pastimes. We had a great time with this urban shoot.

Run

The kids were a little wound up in the airport. "Herding cats" would be a good way of describing the adventure.

See

We finished up the trip to oregon with our good friends in Portland. Grace got to go sea kayaking for the first time. What a wonderful experience for a four year old.

Learn

We are in Ashland , Oregon. It is a city known for it's Shakespeare festival. Leslie's sister, Lenore lives right next to the coolest library. Amelia found herself engrossed in some very fine board book literature.

Laugh

We try to take a picture of the Leslie and the kids each Mother's day. It's kind of a tradition. I couldn't ask for a better Mom to my kids.

Care

Today there was a lot of excitement!!! A new pet wandered into the yard. A decision was made to give her a permanent home. Grace named her Mirabelle (even though we weren't sure if it was male or female). Part of her shell was damaged. It looked like some sort of carnivore tried to eat her and pierced the shell in one spot. Leslie couldn't resist one more live being to care for in our home.

Swing

Going Home. It's a neat feeling to go home to where you grew up and see you kids play where you used to play. This is an old swing my wife's grandfather made for the kids to play on. I don't think he knew how much joy it would bring to generations to come.
